Uplifting news has been rare in this season. Thankfully, Spring is officially and physically here and gardening season is upon us.
Hope you have had a chance to bask in the good weather these past few days?
There will be a number of changes this season due to the novel Corona virus. A detailed guide on gardening protocol will follow shortly, but we already know the following will be in effect;
We will have a soft opening this season, this means gardening can start as soon as the soil can be worked (when it’s dried up a bit).
Social distancing will be maintained. A number of people in the garden will be reduced and a schedule regarding that will follow.
Discontinuing of all planned special programs and events to minimize gathering.
Any gardener, volunteer with cold-like symptoms, including cough, fever, shortness of breath, runny nose, or sore throat, is required by law to isolate and may not participate in any of the activities.
If a gardener becomes symptomatic while on site, they must immediately inform any of the coordinators and administrative teams and leave the site.
Water is life.
The city has pledged water supply for us sometime May. Early gardeners this season may have to bring in their water supply if the dryness persists over the next few weeks, while we await the city.
We know we can’t wait to get our hands in soil.
We continue to get requests about the free seeds we got from Quick Grow Edmonton. Those got distributed in a finger snap. Please stay tuned in the event we have updates regarding free seeds in the future.
