McDougall United Church: Planting Seeds In Our Community

The McDougall United Church has partnered with our organization many times, through their gracious fundraising efforts and their continued support of our shared values. Most recently they have launched a community initiative to build boxes to promote a healthy lifestyle for at-risk families.

Two sizes: 1 ft x 4 ft or 2 ft x 4 ft

Cost: Pay What You Can
Contributions are gladly accepted and will help fund additional boxes for very low-income families at risk of homelessness.

Included:
Wooden box kit (including frame, bottom and wheels) prepared by
Lord Beaverbrook High School Construction Trades students
Assistance with assembly
Pre-mixed soil and starter vegetable seeds
High-yield/small-space gardening instruction by
LBHS Ecology and Science Club students

McDougall has partnered with Lord Beaverbrook High School teachers and students on this project. Each box that someone at McDougall has bought has funded another box so we can offer them on a “pay-what-you-can” basis, including free. This initiative was advertised in both the Acadia and Fairview community newsletters.

For future interest in this project, please contact the Executive Council of McDougall United Church @ Martha Taylor: marthataylor02@gmail.com
