Last month we talked about painting our benches and picnic tables. I asked what kind of welcoming messages we could use on the benches. Let’s explore that a little bit more.
Have you noticed how different places have different vibes? That feeling we get is influenced by what surrounds us. Whether we realize it or not, our surroundings impact us. This is your chance to come express yourself and contribute to invoking a positive experience for all who move through this space.
We would like to know what words or phrases you feel describe Canada, Alberta, Calgary, Acadia, our Acadia Community Garden? What colors do you love? What images are representative of us, our community, and/or the Garden?
Do you wish to share your artistic ideas? Not only are we looking for your input, we would love you to come share your skills. This is a chance for local artists to utilize our Garden to showcase your talents. Do you love painting, woodworking, sculpturing, beading or whatever else leads your artistic passions? Hopefully, through this process, we will also facilitate an avenue for local artists to network and build a supportive art community.
Besides painting our benches and the picnic table, we’re also exploring doing some art weaving on the fence, some type of centerpiece in the middle of the Garden, decorating the backs of our signage, generating unique signage for our food forest. Our canvas is open!
Come join in some fun, creative adventures in your very own neighborhood. If you have some word, phrase or image suggestions and/or you’d like to get involved, please let us know by mid-September.
